Timothy McDevitt
Singing Technique
Timothy McDevitt is a versatile baritone whose career spans opera, musical theatre, concert, and cabaret throughout the United States and abroad. He has been featured at prominent venues throughout Europe, including the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, Oper der Stadt Köln, and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence; in Tokyo with the NHK Symphony; and across the United States with the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, New York City Ballet, New York Philharmonic, Chicago, Cincinnati, Virginia, Reading, Albany, Winston-Salem, National, and New World Symphonies, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and in all three halls at Carnegie Hall.
His theatre credits include productions at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and National Sawdust, regionally at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and Baltimore Center Stage, and six productions with New York City Center Encores; Titanic, Call Me Madam, Me & My Girl, Brigadoon, The New Yorkers, & Lady be Good. On television, he has appeared on season two of the Apple TV+ series Dickinson and on PBS for Live from Lincoln Center and Great Performances.
A graduate of The Juilliard School, Tim holds both a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Voice and has developed a parallel career as a sought-after vocal educator and coach. In addition to his position on the Voice Faculty here at Circle in the Square, he serves on the Vocal Arts faculties of the Manhattan School of Music and Bard College Conservatory while maintaining a private coaching studio in New York.
His teaching philosophy centers on helping singers recognize and develop their unique abilities as performers through a comprehensive understanding of vocal technique and vocal wellness. His students range from aspiring young performers to professional artists, and he has also worked extensively in the world of pageantry, serving as a vocal coach for Miss America contestants, most notably coaching Miss America 2026, Cassie Donegan. www.timothymcdevitt.com @tim_mcdevitt
